On a cool but very plesant November afternoon, the annual Trenton Meeting Community Barbecue Meal took place. I t was a friendly and calm event. Graham Apgar added to this feeling by playing beautiful music on the upstairs piano for the first part of the event. The tables were arranged so neighbors could get their food and sit down for a while to eat and talk with each other. There was always a seat available even though we had over 80 visitors throughout the afternoon. Some got food and sat down to focus on eating it. A few took the burgers to go. There was one group discussion on current politics which ended in a disagreement and broke up the conversation, but that seems to show the tension we are all feeling in these days leading up to the election.
Charles cooked the burgers, cheeseburgers, and hot dogs on the grill in the corner of the parking lot with help of young neighbor Zavi'air..
Delicious food including baked beans by Isabelle, tuna macaroni salad by Sandra, Caesar salad by Cathy, green beans by Graham, veg macaroni salad by Cheyanne, coleslaw by Barbara, chocolate chip cookies by Suze and daughter, apples from Terhune, clementines from Maia, pumpkin pie by ESWA, food labels (not edible!) by Mara, food tickets (not edible!) by Stefanie.
Debi setup an arts and crafts table in the side yard that screamed autumn and fall colors. The kids loved the activities especially when assisted by Aine.
Friends stayed afterwards to clean up and that went really well because we had so many helpers available. And I don't think anyone really burned out on this event.
Also let me end by saying that the neighbors really appreciated the outreach and we received multiple thank yous for the BBQ.
